Firearms Safety Courses
In Canada, in order to possess or acquire a firearm, you must be the holder of a valid Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) for non-restricted firearms such as most shotguns and rifles, or a Restricted Possession and Acquisition License (RPAL) for most handguns. These licenses are obtained by taking the appropriate course for the firearm class, or challenging the course exam without attending the course. More information can be found at the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program website.
The Canadian Firearms Safety Course, which deals with non-restricted firearms, is overseen by the New Brunswick Department Of Natural Resources. Information regarding this course, course challenges and the Hunter Safety Education Course can be obtained by calling your local DNR office or visiting the GNB website.
The Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course, which deals with restricted firearms, is overseen by the Community College Of New Brunswick. Information regarding this course and course challenges can be obtained by calling the CCNB at 1-855-856-2163.
Both these courses fill up fast due to the high interest and limited number of seats, so register as soon as possible.
